چکیده

The observation that Leuconostoc dextranicum 8086 requires either aspartic acid or threonine for growth resulted in studies in which a ri%e’ of aspartic acid in the biosynthesis of threonine was demonstrated in certain lactobacilli (1). In the present investigation, the nature of the requirement for either aspartic acid or threonine for growth of L. dextranicum 8086 has been found to be the result of a competitive inhibition by glutamic acid of the utilization of aspartic acid in the biosynthesis of threonine.

Comparison Studies on Complexation of Molybdenum(VI) with Aspartic Acid And Glutamic Acid in Different Dielectric Constants1

Equilibria of the reaction of molybdenum(VI) with L-aspartic acid (Asp) and L- Glutamic acid(Glu) have been studied by spectrophotometric measurements in mixed solvent systems at an ionicstrength of 0.2 mol/dm3 sodium perchlorate, employed (15, 20, 25, 30± 0.1°C) at pH ranges of 3.2to 5.5 with a high ratio of ligand to metal. The stability constants of the complexes and theresulting free energy...

Utilization of carbon dioxide in the synthesis of proteins by Escherichia coli. II.

The question of the mechanisms involved in protein synthesis is one of the most important problems in biology. One facet that has recently become amenable to experimental approach is the process of synthesis or accumulation of constituent amino acids. In an earlier paper (1) we have reported the utilization of Cl402 in protein synthesis by Escherichia coli and the identification of labeled aspa...

Identification of amino acids in Securigera securidaca, a popular medicinal herb in Iranian folk medicine

Securigera securidaca (L.) Degen & Dorfl grows in different parts of Iran. The seeds of the species are used in Iranian folk medicine as an anti-diabetic agent. Many studies have established hypoglycemic effects of amino acids and in the present investigation, amino acids of Securigera securidaca seeds have been evaluated. The ground seeds were extracted using petroleum ether,...

Antagonisms in the utilization of d-amino acids by lactic acid bacteria. IV. d-Aspartic acid.

Investigations with glutamic acid, methionine, and alanine have shown that n-amino acid utilization by lactic acid bacteria may be inhibited by specific antimetabolites (l-4). This has been taken to indicate that a conversion of o-amino acid substrate to the L form precedes its utilization, and that this process may be blocked by an appropriate inhibitor. Both Land n-alanines have been shown to...

Metabolism of Common Substrates by the Reiter Strain of Treponema pallidum.

The utilization of glucose, amino acids, fatty acids, bicarbonate, purines, and pyrimidines by the Reiter treponeme was studied by using carbon 14-labeled substrates. The distribution of carbon from the substrates into various cell components was determined. Radioactivity from labeled bicarbonate in the cellular protein was restricted to aspartic acid. The Reiter treponeme is capable of synthes...
